About the Event

Where: Hunters Creek Club

The Big Bird Classic was established in 2006 as a memorable tribute to a good friend, Rob Schuele, who was an avid outdoorsman that enjoyed duck and pheasant hunting along with BIG wine. The event is an annual pheasant hunt, wine and charity event that realizes Rob’s vision and provides scholarship opportunities to college-bound students. Join us in October in Metamora.

Robert A. Schuele Scholarship

About the Scholarship

The Robert A. Schuele Scholarship Fund was established to honor the life of a friend, a family man, and a business professional. The intention of the fund is to grant a scholarship award in an amount that will secure a student’s attendance at any college or university in Michigan.

Each year, the Scholarship’s Board of Trustees select an applicant with outstanding character, a demonstrated commitment to academic studies, and a significant financial need for assistance. In addition to a four-year, full-ride tuition, scholarship recipients also receive mentoring and networking resources to maximize the recipient’s educational experience.

How & When To Apply

This section explains when applications will close, which documents you need to submit, and who is eligible.

1. You can apply until 4/22/2026

Applications will be completed fully online.

2. Prepare required documents

One reference letter, transcripts, FAFSA application, and your most recent household Federal Tax Return will need to be uploaded with your application.

3. Interview availability

Applicants need to be available for MANDATORY interviews in May should the Trustees select that applicant for further consideration.

Eligibility & Main Criteria

Academic Criteria

Applicants for the Robert A. Schuele Scholarship must have at least a 2.3 (on a 4.0 scale) cumulative high school G.P.A. (or its equivalent, to be submitted as a sealed transcript) or an 18 composite A.C.T. score for first-time freshman; or scores of 400 or more in each of the following SAT categories: Critical Reading; Mathematics and Writing.

How to Apply

Financial Criteria

RAS Scholarship applicants must demonstrate a need for financial assistance and maintain full-time college status throughout their academic career. If chosen, applicants must maintain unrestricted academic standing with the university or college with which courses will be taken (e.g., no academic suspensions) is required as a result of this scholarship.

Geographical Criteria

Applicants must be a high school senior in Wayne, Oakland or Macomb Counties or an applicant invited by a member of the Robert A.
